Score (another) one for natural birth!
8 July 2009
A very good friend of mine just had a beautiful birth: she was induced (she was five days “overdue”), but she proudly went all-natural from there–quite the feat in hospitals today, as we all know! She had a lovely, healthy, 10-pound, 5-ounce baby boy with just fifteen minutes of pushing, and she reported that she is–deservedly so!–a hero on her maternity floor. My friend is a tall woman (5′11″), and she’d been battling doctors who insisted that her baby was “too big” for weeks now. I wish (but somehow doubt) that her doctor is now saying, “Yes, absolutely, you were right–your baby wasn’t too big for you after all, and your body knew exactly what it was doing!”
If you’d like, click over to her blog and leave her a congratulatory note in the comments–I think she’d be thrilled.
