Protection for Breastfeeding Mothers

A bill to protect public breastfeeding is headed to Gov Deval Patrick’s desk. Senator Susan Fargo, the democrat from Lincoln who pushed the bill, said she was confident the governor would sign it. Without this law, women who breastfeed in public could be prosecuted for lewd conduct or indecent exposure and could be forced to register as sex offenders if convicted.

Massachusetts is one of only three states that does not offer such protection to women.
