Quick link: AP story about reporter and Hypnobirthing

If you haven’t seen it already, take a look at this story by AP writer Laura Wides-Munoz, which is  making the rounds of news outlets today. Miami-based Wides-Munoz used Hypnobirthing and shopped around, moving through several different OBs who weren’t friendly to natural birth, before having a successful natural birth in a hospital. There’s no real mention of midwives here, except by implication when the author writes, “At 35, with two miscarriages, I wanted as natural an experience as possible but also the security of a hospital [and OB].” As she found out, her experience was far from easy–I’d argue that fighting with the doctors must have taken almost as much energy as labor!
