Reminder: save the date for a cool interdisciplinary birth talk, 9/3
Just a reminder to save the date–Thursday, September 3rd, at 4:00 in the afternoon–for an interdisciplinary scholarly panel on birth. This is through the Women’s Studies Program at Boston University, and I’ll be giving a talk about women’s Internet birth stories and the way they construct their experiences as narratives. There’s also Gene Declercq, a public health scholar who some of you may know from his quotes in The Business of Being Born and other similar films, and there’s Claudia Olivetti, an economist who’ll be talking about the economic value of hospitals, technology, etc. over the past century. Everyone is welcome–academics, midwives, moms/babies, anyone at all who’s interested–find out more details here.
