Dear Friends and Supporters of Midwifery,

The Midwifery Bill– Senate 847/House 2080, a Bill to Establish a Board of Midwifery– that so many of us are working on is still awaiting approval from the Joint Committee for Public Health. We need your help *THIS WEEK* to ensure that the bill gets reported favorably out of this committee *BEFORE the end of January* and ask you to take a minute to do the following:

If you are a constituent of Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez (JP, Roslindale, and parts of Brookline), please click here (or copy and paste this URL into your browser:)
www.change.org/actions/view/midwifery_support_letter_to_chairman_sanchez
to read and sign on to a constituent group letter in support of this bill.

Rep. Sanchez is a co-chair of the Joint Committee for Public Health and thus plays the key role in creating a favorable report for the bill, the first stop on the journey to getting the legislation passed THIS SESSION. We hope you will agree to sign onto this letter and will pass on this email to any friends/family/ colleagues who might live in Rep. Sanchez’ district.

This letter/petition in support of the MA Midwifery Bill asks ONLY constituents of Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez, co-chair of the MA Joint Committee for Public Health, to release the bill from his committee and move it along the path to becoming legislation.

Other Massachusetts residents should email info@mfom.org to be put on a list for upcoming letters addressed to other legislators and policy makers.

If you don’t know who your legislator is, you can find his/her name and contact information at the following link:

If you’d like to read the Midwifery Bill in its entirety, please go to the following
link: http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/186/st00pdf/st00847.pdf

It only takes a minute or two to make a call and make a difference!

Our goal is to get this bill out of the Joint Committee on Public Health before the end of January–and help make good birth choices available to all MA women and their families. PLEASE sign our petition, call, email, or write to Chairman Sanchez ASAP.

Thanks so much for your support!

I am a midwifery student at Baystate Medical Center taking my masters classes through Philadelphia University. I am currently enrolled in a Introduction to Health Policy class and plan to make this bill part of my class project. I would love to hear more about what is being done to pass this bill and how I could help!!

Thank you for your time and consideration,

    Christian Ornburn
