Yet another pro-birth story on ABC (not to be all cynical about ABC, I’m just not used to birth getting GOOD coverage!): ABC reports on the recent NIH VBAC conference.

“The mood at the conference,” notes Dr. Lucky Jain, “has been overwhelmingly in favor of promoting VBAC, [especially] if we can improve our ability to identify those [rare] mothers that might have complications with VBAC.”

Commentary and reports about this ground-breaking conference are all over the internet. Dr. Jains is an amazing researcher who presented important information about serious risks to babies delivered by c-section. Keep up the fight, Massachusetts, for access to midwives. With all the reports released this month — NIH, the California Maternal Health Care Quality Coaltion, the brand new Agency for Health Care Research, and now the NIH report, plus with the Big Push noting that more than half of U.S. jurisdictions now have statutes to legalize direct entry midwiferynow this, March 2010 will definitely be looked back on as the tipping point for improving maternal-child health care in the U.S. We have reached the tipping point and moved beyond it.
